Spring 2025
DT
For our DT topic, we designed and created our own waistcoat. We thought about the shape of the waistcoat, the intended audience and what colours and patterns we would like to add to the finished product.
We used a running stitch in order to create our waistcoat and then added the finishing touches.
We have been designing and creating our own playground following a specific design specification:
- It must be safe.
- It must be fun.
- There must be something to climb up.
- There must be somewhere to hide inside.
- There must be something that moves.
- There must be enough space around each piece of apparatus.
We used many skills in order to create our brilliant playgrounds – such as: designing, planning, sawing, cutting, joining to name a few. We were really impressed with the finished results!
History
We created our own Conscience Ally to think about the reasons why Victorian Chimney Sweep children should / should not work in this job.
We got ourselves into two lines and a couple of us pretended to be a chimney sweep – we listened to each point and in the end the children who were the sweep decided that they would still take up this role!
We used this work to help us to write a newspaper report all about chimney sweeps.
