SPRING 2025

History & Art

We incorporated the study of Cave Art into our history topic, the Stone Age. The children created these Cave paintings based on real historical finds.

Computing

An ‘unplugged’  computing lesson  where the children learned about peripheral devices and the differences between inputs and outputs.

We then discussed the meaning of the acronyms, CPU, RAM, ROM together with their function and that of a hard drive. The children then made their own computer with these internal components.

Design Technology

We incorporated Design Technology into our history topic, the Stone Age. The children created these representations of Stonehenge using different materials.

Research for Geography  using the Internet

The children conducted research on how a mountain is formed. They checked the accuracy of their sources through  use of careful search parameters and cross-referencing. Having made notes, they then wrote up their findings before presenting to peers.

Judaism

For Multi-Faith Day we learned about Judaism and in particular, the Festival of Tu B’Shevat- the Jewish festival for the new year of trees. It is a time when many Jewish people give thanks for the Earth and all that it produces. It encourages thinking about the importance of the need to take care of the world around us. It is also common for people of the Jewish faith to either plant trees themselves or donate money for new trees to be planted.

In class we discussed that, just as a tree bears fruit that we, as people can also bear fruit by being kind and helping others. Trees draw their goodness or nutrients from the soil to grow and give fruit. We must get our goodness from reading and acting upon what we read in Scripture so that we can bear fruit in our lives.

We made trees to celebrate the festival of Tu B’Shevat and to remind us that we need to bear fruit in our lives.

Science

In Science the children learned about the functions of some the different parts of a plant including the petals, stem, leaves and root. This was a practical as well as written lesson where the children ‘dissected’ parts of a plant.
