We have had a great half term in Butterflies Class filled with lots of great learning and special celebrations. We have explored the themes of dinosaurs, pirates, fairies and gnomes and superheroes.  

One of our favourite weeks was Superhero week where we helped Supertato to defeat the Evil Pea. The Evil Pea kept sneaking into our outdoor area and trapping the poor vegetables. He even took our beloved class monkey Chimp. We made maps of our outdoor area and plotted where the vegetables had been found. We also made wanted posters, missing posters, wrote letters to the evil pea and used construction materials and junk modelling resources to make traps for him! 

As part of our fairies and gnomes week we were excited to see fairy doors appear in our classrooms along with a letter from the fairies. We spent the week leaving messages for the fairies and exploring capacity making our own special fairy potions. 

Pirate week helped us to explore our number bonds to 10 thinking about how many gems were inside the treasure chest and how many the pirates still had to find to make 10.  

In our RE lessons we have learnt about Pentecost and the gift of the Holy Spirit that was sent to us by Jesus. We have thought about how the disciples would have felt at this special time and the importance of continuing to spread the Good News.  

A special highlight was our King’s Coronation celebrations . We learnt about the life of King Charles and sequenced important events from his life. We created portraits of the King and turned our role play area outside into a  King’s Coronation Tea Party. A special coronation song was learnt and we performed this with the whole school on the playground as part of our celebrations. 

We ended half term by joining together with the Year 1 and Year 2 children for an enjoyable Sports Day. The children enjoyed completing activities such as the egg and spoon race, dressing up race , obstacle course and treasure grabbing. Great team spirit was shown by all and a special congratulations to overall winners St David’s house.
