Spring Term
Spring learning
One of our topics this half term has been power prints in art. This is a brand new topic and the children developed their drawing and printing skills. They used pictures and their imagination to create a range of super collages, which they then developed using paint and carving tools to create a wonderful array of colours, known as wax resist. Finally, they printed these designs onto polystyrene, using yellow or black paint and rollers. We were very happy with the final pieces of work!
Year 4 have been learning all about the Ancient Egyptians and we held a themed day in school to celebrate this learning at the end of our topic, where everyone dressed up in their Egyptian costumes and worked in groups. The children spent time at three different activities, learning about mummification, how to play the exciting board game called mehen and made their own Egyptian collars. This was lots of fun and the attitude of the children was amazing.
In PE this half term, we have been developing our football skills, starting with dribbling and passing and progressing onto defensive and attacking play. Finally, the children developed their teamwork through competitive matches against their peers. Many goals were scored!
